In February, 1944, an american B17 Bomber, Mi Amigo, crippled and forced to make a landing over the Town of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England crashlanded into the trees bordering a public park as the pilot had tried to maneouvre out of the way of playing children.
One of those children, 8 at the time, has tended the memorial for the last 75 years, visited and paid his respects year upon year.
This is a short compilation of clips from the 75th Memorial gathering where a Flypast was arranged.
At the end of the video you can see a still shot of a piece of the aircraft we had a chance to see and handle, this was passed down through family to the current CO of the Sheffield Air Cadets and is to be loaned to Weston Park Museum for public display.
Apologies for the less than stellar video quality and content but as I had not anticipated being present for this event I had little time to organise and only have access to a friends PC for basic editing.
