Christianity did not begin at the Council of Nicaea.
Long before the year 325 AD before emperors, before councils followers of Jesus were already preaching, suffering persecution, writing Scripture, and building communities across the Roman Empire.
The Council of Nicaea, convened by Emperor Constantine the Great in 325 AD, did not create Christianity and did not invent the Bible. It addressed a theological dispute about Christ’s divinity (the Arian controversy) and affirmed what Christians had already believed and confessed for centuries.
Centuries before Nicaea: • The Apostle Paul’s letters were circulating (1st century AD).
• The four Gospels were already written and widely used.
• Early Church Fathers like Ignatius of Antioch (c. 110 AD) and Justin Martyr (c. 150 AD) openly declared Jesus as Lord and God.
• Christians were being executed for refusing to deny Christ long before Christianity was legalised.
The popular claim popularised in modern fiction especially by Dan Brown in The Da Vinci Code that Christianity was invented or politically engineered at Nicaea is historically inaccurate.
Christianity was not born in a council chamber.
It began in the 1st century, in Judea, with the life, crucifixion, and resurrection proclamation of Jesus Christ and it spread despite persecution, not because of political power.
History matters. Evidence matters. Truth matters
