Consider a simplified power system where the transmission losses are negligible (Ploss =0), the load is Pload = 10 MW and it is supplied from two generators, G1 and G2. The costs of generation (CGi, i = 1, …, n, n = 2, in $/hr) are given by:

where PG1 and PG2 are the active power dispatch is in MW.
Calculate the optimum values of the active power dispatch of the generators ( and ) such that the dispatch satisfies the total demand (Pload = PG1 + PG2). Assume the generation units have no technical limits.
