RAF Waddington is the Royal Air Force's main hub for ISTAR - Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance. There are currently three types of ISTAR aircraft that are based at Waddington: the Boeing RC-135W Rivet Joint; the Beechcraft Shadow R.1; and the baby of the fleet - the General Dynamics Protector RG.1 (the MQ-9B).
