The ACG-1, better known in French service as the AMC 35, was a 1930s cavalry tank developed by Renault. Featuring an innovative two-man turret and respectable firepower for its time, it was a decent design that never received the recognition it arguably deserved.
Belgium became the only export customer, purchasing 10 tanks along with 15 additional turrets for use in static defenses. In many ways, these ACG-1s were the only truly Belgian tanks to see combat during the German invasion of May 1940.
Today, this forgotten vehicle survives only in part, through the last remaining complete APX-2B turret preserved at the Royal Military Museum.
Join us for a deep dive into the fascinating history, development, and combat story of this overlooked interwar tank and discover why the ACG-1 deserves to be remembered.
