Описание: Banbhore Excavation Yields Major Finds, Including Human Skeletons
THATTA: Significant archaeological discoveries have emerged from the ongoing excavation at the historic site of Banbhore, where more than a dozen human skeletons have been unearthed, along with a wide range of antiquities. Experts believe that the scale and depth of this season’s work may surpass previous excavation campaigns, potentially reshaping the understanding of the site’s long and complex history.
The excavation is a joint effort involving students from local universities, officials of the Sindh Archaeology Department, and a team of archaeologists from Italy. The international team comprises specialists in pottery, photography, topography, osteology, glass studies and field archaeology. Its members include Dr Agnese Fusaro, Quaggio Sara, Furno Luca, Damiano Daniele and Marco Vilory.

Site in-charge Saleem Palijo said that, in addition to the human skeletal remains, the team has recovered pottery vessels and several other antiquities. All finds have been handed over to the Sindh Archaeology Department for scientific analysis to determine their age, origin and historical context

Meanwhile, the Khanabadosh Research & Exploration Team also visited the Banbhore site on December 28, 2025, to observe the recent discoveries and ongoing excavation. The team included the organization’s founders Amir Taj and Co-Founder Ansar Ahmed, along with S. Atiq Ahmed, Tahir Baloch, and Osama Amir. During the visit, the team closely examined the excavation areas, observed the newly uncovered human skeletons area and artifacts.
