The 25 member Tri-City Model Railroad Association was established in 1993 and moved into the depot in 2002.
Their historic re-creation represents Grand Island, Nebraska, during the 1940s-1960s. This era was an interesting one in railroad history, a time when railroads were moving from steam to diesel power and passenger service was still widely available.
The layout is open to the public every third Tuesday evening of the month, although they encourage people to visit during their weekly meetings — also Tuesdays — to get a feel for their group and layout.
According to Mark, five Tri-City Model Railroad Association members have achieved master modeler status awarded by the National Model Railroad Association, something only 535 people have done since the achievement award was created in 1961.
