In this video, we spent three unforgettable days in Antigua, Guatemala, and explored some of the best things this colourful town has to offer.

Antigua is known for its pastel facades, cobblestone streets, and stunning volcano views. We wandered around Parque Central, visited San José Cathedral, checked out the National Museum of Guatemalan Art, and explored the lively Mercado Central (where we were almost brave enough to try raw bull testicle ceviche).

We also visited Antigua’s famous Arco de Santa Catalina and Iglesia de la Merced, where we caught a Christmas Las Posadas procession. Plus, we stumbled across some cool hidden spots, like a hidden food court (La Fuente) and what might be the world’s prettiest Starbucks.

Next up, we took an ATV tour up into the mountains to visit Hobbitenango – a fun Hobbit-style park with epic views over the Panchoy Valley. We also stopped by Cerro de la Cruz, one of Antigua’s best viewpoints, and held on tight for a bumpy pickup truck ride through the countryside.

On our final day, we headed out to the beautiful Lake Atitlán, a crater lake surrounded by volcanoes. We hopped between three villages:

San Juan La Laguna: artsy streets, weaving cooperatives, and honey made from stingless Mayan bees.

Santiago Atitlán: a village full of culture and history, where we visited a historic church and wandered through the lively market.

San Antonio Palopó: a quiet hillside village with the best panoramic lake views.

We also share some travel tips – like where we stayed in Antigua for $33 a night (Hospedaje El Viajero) and a cheap local eatery we loved (La Casa De La Mixtas). Plus, a great café (La Vid) for digital nomads needing good wifi and coffee.
