During Gold Medal Match of the 2006 Commonwealth Games, Australia defeated Pakistan by 3 goals which were scored by De Young, Doerner and Dwyer, however, the strongest play ended on a red card and a 6 months suspension.
The match was marred by an extraordinary display of indiscipline by Pakistan's Tariq Aziz, who was shown a red card for an incident off the ball involving Australia's Rob Hammond in the 44th minute.
The Pakistani Hockey Federation handled the matter and issued Aziz a 6 month suspension of six months, which the FIH back then, considered to be a sufficient penalty.
