Actor Vijay requested his fans not to join or work for the political party started by his father in his name. And further warned that any attempts to use his name, images or the name of his ‘Akila India Thalapathi Vijay Makkal Iyakkam’ would face appropriate action.
The recent trends in Tamil Nadu shows that cinema goes hand in hand with politics. It was amidst the hints of Tamil actor Vijay’s entry to politics creating headlines, news emerged that a political party had been registered in the actor’s name. The reports of registering a political party in the name of the actor with the Election Commission of India came out on Thursday. The fans of the actor were super excited when it came to light that the party was registered by Vijay’s father, Director S A Chandrasekar. Meanwhile, Vijay clearly stated that he had learnt about the recent developments via media reports.
In the recent releases of Vijay, the actor has rendered dialogues with political connotations. The dialogues that went against the BJP and the state’s ruling party AIADMK irked the followers of the respective parties. His films have been critical about the GST, demonetisation, and nation’s health sector. The actor had spoken against the Jallikattu issue in Tamil Nadu and nationwide conduct of NEET exam publicly. Still Vijay’s entry to politics in 2021 was least anticipated. The actor himself was taken aback by his father’s hasty move to register a political party in his name.
R Padmanaban, Chandrasekar, and Vijay’s mother Shoba Sekar were listed as president, general secretary, and treasurer of the political party in the name of Akila India Thalapathi Vijay Makkal Iyakkam respectively.
The actor’s fans shared the message widely after Vijay disavowed the party in a statement, though they initially welcomed it.
However, Chandrasekar explained that this is not Vijay’s party and he is uncertain about whether Vijay will enter politics. “I started the Vijay fans association in 1993. He should have prevented me at that time. Later, I nurtured the association and trained the youth with social consciousness. Now I want to serve society in a more elaborate manner and recognise the youth who joined the association. So I have created this platform. Those who want to serve the society can use the platform and I welcome all” Chandrasekar said.
Meanwhile, actor Kamal Haasan has informed that his party was working on candidate selection and preparing electoral manifesto for 2021 while Rajanikanth might stay away from politics owing to health concerns.
