The number of manatee that winter at Blue Springs is hard to understand until you actually see it. This video was filmed during the first weekend of 2026 at Blue Springs. We were camping at the state park and had the early morning all to ourselves. The mist rising above the constant 72℉ water as it encountered the cool morning air, was shadowing the docile creatures as they navigated the spring run.
The highly social aspect of this animal is noticeable once sharing the warmth of the spring water with so many others there.
On this day, the manatee count for the Spring exceded 500. This is a peaceful video showing the interaction of so many manatees together in a small area.
Adult female manatee nursing yearlings as they float by. Curious and showing no fear towards humans, many bear scars from interactions with less cautious boaters.
