The newly-launched savings account for young people in South Korea is proving popular.
According to the Financial Services Commission on Tuesday, the "youth leap account", has attracted 2-hundred-40-thousand applicants since it opened last Thursday.
The government-backed program offers a savings account to those aged between 19 and 34, with a maximum annual interest rate of 6 percent.
Users can save up to 50 million won, or around 39-thousand U.S. dollars, over the course of five years with a maximum deposit of 7-hundred-thousand won per month.
Eligibility depends on personal income and applicants can apply through eleven banking apps between 9 AM and 6:30 PM.
