I've been trying out a few different microphone setups on my drums, and thought it would be fun to do a comparison of the stereo overhead techniques for micing a drum set. In this video are examples of X/Y, Spaced Pair, and a variation of Spaced Pair that I like to use!
For this video I only used a pair of AKG 214's for overheads, and a Shure Beta 52 for the kick. Other than level balancing and slight compression, the recorded audio is unmixed.
