A one-off 1000 Londoner film about Nadia, who is one of the many Londoners affected by the Grenfell Tower fire in recent days.
We travelled to Kensington this morning to hear the perspectives of those impacted by the tragedy and met Nadia there. She tells us about her friends who were living in the tower, and about the humanitarian effort she is part of to provide food and clothing to survivors.
1000 LONDONERS
This film is part of 1000 Londoners, a ten-year digital project which aims to create a digital portrait of a city through 1000 of the people who identify themselves with it. The profile contains a 3 minute film that gives an insight into the life of the Londoner, as well as their personal photos of London and some answers to crucial questions about their views on London life. Over the course of the project we aim to reveal as many facets of the capital as possible, seeing city life from 1000 points of view.

TRANSCRIPT
I was born and raised around here, um, I mean most of the people that are missing,
I was raised with them. I've got a couple of friends that are, um, that were residents at the Grenfell Tower, um. I've got a friend of mine who's a mother of three children that is still unaccounted for, is still missing. She's got a six-month-old apparently with her, her two daughters have been admitted into hospital, um… apparently the eight-year-old might have passed away in the last few hours, um, her husband's missing also…
I'm just numb, I've got three children, I'm doing it alone and I'm not functioning in any way shape or form. I'm not, um, I'm just angry but helpless at the same time. It was just basically a disaster waiting to happen, um, and someone needs to pay for this. Even if it was just the one life someone needs to pay for this. Right now we just kind of just need to sit tight and just hope for, hope for the best, um, even though it looks kind of very unlikely that there are gonna be many survivors because there are still loads of people that are missing and not accounted for in the building.
We're just kind of trying to rally round everybody basically and try and keep out grief to one side and just help those who are survivors and who do need our help. It's a humungous tragedy and it's not something that's going to go away overnight within the community or even within the United Kingdom, I mean there are people even around the world that are affected. We just have to kind of keep going and be optimistic as they say, so...
