Hello everybody. C&M Aquatics has recently been branching out and making dry good products. Mainly frag plugs, frag tiles, and several different variations of frag racks. In this video I go through the process of how these frag plugs and tiles are made here at the coral farm. These plugs and tiles are made from Portland type 2 Concrete and reqular playground sand. A lot of people will have issues with puting these materials into their aquarium and that is ok. Your aquarium is your investment and work of art and if this is not for you thats ok. With that being said I use these plugs and tiles at the coral farm without any issues. The corals grow across the tiles and plugs just like they do with a more traditional ceramic plug or tile and they do not mess with water quality. These plugs and tiles are safe to use because they go through a very rigorous curring process. Every tile and plug are curred in fresh water for at least two months. The last batch I did was closer to 6 months. These plugs and tiles will not be sold or used unless the testing process says that they are ready. After the freshwater cure I have added a saltwater cure at the end of the process just to make sure that they are safe. People have been using concrete in their aquariums since the early 90's and as long as the material is curred properly it is safe. I would not be using them in my systems with thousands of dollars of corals on the line if it was not safe to do so. I really hope that this video helps clear up some of the stigma around using concrete in the reef aquarium hobby. These are great to use because they look more natural than a bleached white plug in your aquarium. They really blend in much better with the aquarium rock and look a lot more natural. We have these plugs and tiles listed on the website for sale at www.cmaquaticsky.com. If you don't want to buy them then I encourage you to watch the video and make some for yourself to try out at home. The process is pretty straight forward and it is rewarding when it is all done. I did not mention in the video but you can cure these plugs and tiles in the back tank of your toilet in your home. Its a great way to recycle water and save money. If you do this just make sure that they go into a container at the end of the curring process so you can do a P.H. test to make sure that they are reef safe. If you guys have questions or concerns feel free to reach out to me and I will try to answer any questions to the best of my ability. Take care and HAPPY REEFING!
