Rudy,Giuliani, says,Trump,REFUSE,cooperate,Mueller, subpoenas, obstruction, claims Presidential lawyer Rudy Giuliani says Special Counsel Robert Mueller's written questions to Donald Trump included nothing about obstruction of justice, and didn't touch on his activities since he took office in January 2017.And that's a good thing, Giuliani told Axios, because Trump would refuse to cooperate if Mueller demanded answers along those lines. 'We answered every question they asked that was legitimately pre-election and focussed on Russia,' Giuliani told Reuters in an interview. 'Nothing post-election. And we’ve told them we’re not going to do that.'Trump sent Mueller answers on Tuesday to his questions about Democrats' white-whale 'collusion' claim – the unproven allegation that aides to his 2016 campaign partnered with Russian agents to tilt the election in his favor. As he left the White House for his Thanksgiving break Tuesday afternoon, the president said he had handed his lawyers 'the written answers to the witch hunt that's been going on forever. No collusion. No nothing.' Trump made no mention of the parallel investigation Mueller has reportedly pursued, one focused on whether Trump obstructed justice when he fired FBI Director James Comey in 2017.Mueller's questions, according to Giuliani, showed no indication that he's engaged on that front. While it's still possible Mueller would send the White House a subpoena for Trump's testimony about his activities in office, Giuliani said, the president would refuse.'I think that he [Mueller] would not win a legal battle if he did that, and I think it would consume months,' he said.Giuliani believes an assertion of executive privilege would be enough to parry Mueller's inquiries. But executive privilege is a muscle usually flexed to fend off demands from Congress or the federal courts. Mueller works for the Department of Justice, an executive branch that Trump technically controls.Giuliani added, however, that an obstruction-of-justice subpoena from Mueller could only cover information that he has no other way of obtaining. And just as other witnesses have already spoken with Mueller, Trump himself has put his views on the record 'in interviews [and] tweets,' he added.'I think their obstruction case, as a legal matter, doesn't exist,' he declared. And he added that he doesn't believe 'they have any evidence of collusion of any kind.' Share this article Share Giuliani disclosed that Mueller's questions included some that focused on whether Trump knew ahead of time about a Trump Tower meeting Donald Trump Jr. convened with a group that included a Kremlin-tied Russian lawyer. The president has insisted in the past that he didn't know at the time about the meeting, which was initially expected to be about opposition research related to Hillary Clinton.Mueller also asked about Russia-inspired hacks that followed a joking barb Trump offered during a July 2016 press conference in Florida, saying: 'Russia, if you're listening, I hope you're able to find the 30,0
