Описание: Amidst evolving geopolitical landscapes, U.S.-Taiwan relations are developing at multiple levels, with subnational diplomacy emerging as a driving force in transforming local actions into global movements. From setting up new trade offices to developing education exchanges fostered by the U.S.-Taiwan Education Initiative, to making major investments in semiconductor manufacturing and other advanced technologies, state and local actors in the United States and Taiwan are taking active roles in deepening social, political, and economic ties between both sides. At the same time, city and state governments and public agencies in the United States and Taiwan also face challenges in navigating sensitive policy issues, such as managing cross-Strait relations in subnational affairs and countering maligned foreign influence or interference. As local and global issues are increasingly intertwined, it is a critical moment for local actors in the United States and Taiwan to gain deeper understanding on the geostrategic importance of subnational affairs.
