Origin: He was created in a facility by a cult as a sentient doomsday device, formed from various DNA samples. He eventually escaped and raised himself, taking the name "Whitmore" from a nametag.
Backstory: He attempted to become a rockstar, but his career was ruined by Daddy Dearest (Girlfriend's father). This forced him into hiding in alleyways, constantly fleeing from a task force led by Updike.
Personality: While initially standoffish and anxious, he is canonically asexual and has shown a softer side in spin-offs like The Date Week, where he is in a relationship with another popular mod character, Carol.
2. Music and Gameplay
The mod consists of three core songs that escalate in intensity:
Lo-Fight: A chill, low-tempo introduction as Whitty tries to stay calm despite Boyfriend's pestering.
Overhead: The energy picks up as Whitty becomes increasingly irritated.
Ballistic: The climax where Whitty has a mental breakdown and goes "ballistic." This song became legendary for its extreme difficulty and "jackhammer" note patterns, setting a new standard for challenge in the FNF community.
3. Historical Significance and "Whitty Syndrome"
Whitty's success birthed the fan term "Whitty Syndrome," which describes a trope common in later mods: a character starts calm, gets angry in the second song, and undergoes a dramatic transformation with an "insane" difficulty spike for the third song.
4. Cancellation and Return
Removal: In July 2021, the mod was voluntarily taken down from GameBanana due to internal community drama and harassment regarding similarities between Whitty and other mods (like Tabi).
The Definitive Edition: For its first anniversary in 2022, the mod was rereleased as the Definitive Edition. This version added new songs (like Hungry and Lowrise), a secret character named Julian (a human retelling of Whitty), and refined visual effects using the Psych Engine.
