In this video, I ran into a recurring problem with my tedder — hay kept wrapping around one of the wheels while I was using it in the field. Over time, the buildup caused enough stress that it eventually broke the wheel.
With hay season moving fast, this wasn’t something I could ignore. I walk through repairing the damaged wheel, welding it back together, and then going a step further to prevent it from happening again.
To fix the root of the issue, I bought fenders, modified them, built custom brackets, and mounted everything to the tedder to stop hay from wrapping around that wheel in the future.
This is a real-world farm repair — diagnosing the failure, fixing what broke, and improving the equipment so it works better going forward.
If you’re a farmer, mechanic, or someone who prefers fixing and improving equipment instead of just replacing it, this one’s for you.
