Yay? Good. Interviewing as many people as I’ve had over the last 30 years has required me to add a different layer to my approach: listening and trying to understand their point of view, whether or not I agree. Doesn’t mean we don’t challenge or engage, but what’s the point of doing that if you can’t truly hear someone first? I know we have been in the era of everyone turning into George W Bush with their whole ‘You’re either with us or against us” approach… but where has that got us?

So… Are you brave enough to listen to, or at least understand, someone’s right to speak up for their values, even if it challenges your opinion?
The comments on the Tom Morello and Kneecap posts can and did push many of you to challenging places.

I am the person I am because musicians did this… The Clash, Crass, Public Enemy, Second Wave Beastie Boys, and Even Buffy - that’s right. I learned a lot and now must contend with the news, but I can’t ignore the impact. Maybe that’s one reason it hit so hard and not in a good way when we found out.

Standing your ground means getting uncomfortable. It means questioning what you’re told, poking holes in the official story, and backing musicians who risk everything to speak their truth.

These artists aren’t just singing—they’re shaking up power, challenging our blind spots, and pushing us to think harder. And we need them now more than ever.

This one is a little long, but you know me… I take every second of your time seriously (despite my sawed-off shotgun style of blasting through conventions and trying, alongside you, to push this boulder of discontent up the hill ha).

How often do you question your narratives? Can you back someone’s right to express, even if their ideas might sting a little?
