Natural Colour from Aotearoa | NZ Flax (Harakeke)
In this gentle dye session, I explore natural colour drawn from harakeke (New Zealand flax) working slowly with fibre, tools, and process.
This video is an invitation to pause and observe:
how colour develops, how fibre responds, and how working with natural materials connects us to place, time, and whakapapa.
🌿 Tikanga acknowledgement
Harakeke is a taonga species of Aotearoa. This work is shared with respect for Māori knowledge, tikanga, and the generations who have worked with harakeke as fibre, form, and whakapapa. I acknowledge the cultural significance of harakeke and approach this process with care, gratitude, and humility.
This is a quiet, process-led session offered as a bonus upload in gratitude to this growing community.
If you enjoy slow craft, natural fibres, spinning, dyeing, and mindful making, you’re warmly welcome here.
