A quick comparison of a 1990 Ibanez WH10 (actually a WF10 but they are exactly the same except this has an additional fuzz option).
Things to note:
The original 1990 pedal is in the front and the reissue is behind
The recording is a little hissy because its recorded onto my iphone through one of those cheap irig things that plug into the headphone socket.
The 1990 pedal has had a new genuine Ibanez wah potentiometer fitted.
The reissue is 'modified' to make it as close to the original as possible.
The reissue WH10 V2 had truly awful tone suck when i first got it so I fitted a true bypass switch (This video highlights that I need to add a couple of resistors to stop the 'pop' when it's switched on/off).
Whilst i was adding the true bypass switch I removed the extra capacitors they put in the reissue version as they may reduce high frequencies and make the reissue sound more dull. They are not fitted to the original!
I also added an output volume in place of the dry out so that the wah could be used on a clean channel without getting loads of boost when its switched on. For the purpose of this video the output volume was on full so that it 'should' be like the original in terms of output gain. the wah depth on both the pedals was on full.
It sounds like i need to replace to pot on the reissue, but that should change the sound just make it a bit more noisy.
I know which I think sounds better!
