G20 Women to Africa

Описание: The Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities (DWYPD) in South Africa, in collaboration with Standard Bank Group, is proud to host the G20 Empowerment of Women Working Group (EWWG) Women to Africa event.

This is a strategic opportunity to spotlight women as the driving force of Africa's economic growth.

Four decades since the 3rd UN Women Conference in Nairobi in 1985 and with just five years left to meet the SGD targets, implementation gaps remain, despite strong global commitments like the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action in 1995.

In the spirit of solidarity, equality, and sustainability, the theme of South Africa's G20 presidency, we will convene leading voices from across Africa and the diaspora, public and private sectors, to drive coordinated action on the gender agenda.

South Africa's presidency will build on the approach adopted by Brazil's G20 Presidency, continuing the legacy of the 2023 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration on establishing the Working Group on the Empowerment of Women.

The three key priorities:
• Key Priority 1: Policy perspectives on the care economy—paid and unpaid care work and household responsibilities.
• Key Priority 2: Promoting financial inclusion of and for women.
• Key Priority 3: Addressing gender-based violence and femicide.
