Power Editing in Kontakt - maximize the expressive potential of each performance patch!

In this video, Stephan emphasizes how important it is to be able to change the expression, character and texture of your orchestral sound by using controllers like Foot controller (CC11) or other controllers you favor. Stephan favors the Yamaha FC 7 controller which works very well with his master keyboard, the Yamaha Motif 7 or his Yamaha MX 88 (mostly used for piano parts.)

Stephan explains:" It's not nearly enough to just make the sound louder or softer! A real orchestra will give off much more than that when the conductor motivates them to dig deeper and play with sensitive dynamics - the texture will get more assertive, the vibrato may increase, the attacks get more pronounced etc.

Your patch has to be able to give you at least some of this "Character Change" so you can create a performance that can be rivaled only by world renowned orchestras which would cost a fortune to hire - and you would still have to be a bit lucky to get a perfect performance for your specific project.

By editing a stock polyphonic patch by Vista samples we will explore how to add more depth and responsiveness to any given patch (if the programmers allow you to edit it)
We will add and automate an Equalizer and very useful convolution reverbs to have the patch sound far more dimensional and expressive than it's stock version.
