There are many ways to speed up, but maybe the most common way is a very effective specific dance step whose function is to mark the compás very clearly while making sure everyone follows the acceleration. This step is called, the "paso de subida", the acceleration step.
Let’s explore the “paso de subida” in the 12 beats soleá type or 12 beats guajira type compases.
This step is, in most cases, part of communication in flamenco. It is a step through which the dancer says: "Come all with me, let's go faster!"
The dancer starts the subida and guides the other musicians all along: how long, how progressive, how fast.
If you dance, it is therefore essential that this step is clearly articulated, very clear, and that the acceleration is smooth.
If you accompany, whether on guitar, cajón, palmas, you must be able to understand it, follow it and accompany it.
