Check your radiators
How many radiators are working? If the answer is all of them, this may link to a boiler, plumbing or pipework problem. You will need to call in a professional to deal with dangerous repairs like these.

1. Is only part of the radiator warm?
If the top of the radiator is cold and the bottom is warm, bleed the radiator so that any bubbles at the top are expelled.
If the top of the radiator is warm and the bottom is cold, remove the radiator from the wall and plumbing and rinse through to remove the sludge that is stopping it from warming up properly. Have towels and pans at the ready.

2. Is the whole radiator cold?
Check the thermostatic valve. Remove the top of the valve and check if the pins within the valve are working correctly. Tap them carefully if they are stuck.

3. Is your radiator still not working?
Turn off all the radiators in the rest of the house to see whether or not the broken radiator heats up. If the radiator warms up, then turn your other radiators on one-by-one. You can then identify any other radiator problems and find out which other radiators may need bleeding. If your cold radiator still doesn't heat up, you might need to replace the valve.
