I started using this IKEA Marius stool as a small desk stool and decided that it needed an upgrade. I came up with a design and I knew that I wanted to use wood and metal. I remembered I had a table leaf extension made out of oak that was sitting in my garage. It was a good 1 inch thick piece which is what I thought would look good. I had planned something different for the back support but in the end I decided to use a piece of 1 inch mild steel flat stock instead. I really like the combination of the wood and the metal. This would be a relatively easy DIY project since you can buy a perfect 12" table round from Home Depot or Lowes I put a link down below. A little sanding and they are good to go. The back support would be a little harder to make because of the contouring. A piece of 2x4 could be substituted though the back rest would then be flat but it could be contoured slightly with some sanding to a similar shape as the one I made. I am very please with how this turned out I might make another one. Thanks for watching.
