Before we start, do subsribe to my channel. It will help it to grow. Thx so much 😬
This video is not very long. It's mostly at real time speed for the benefit of beginners, and also, for those who prefer to watch it slowly, step by step. I did my best to speed up some repetitive parts, whilst retaining the entire length of the process. For professional knitters, do speed past the those sections.
Let's start with the details of the pullover at the beginning of the video:
95 stitches x 212 rows (19in x 16in)
Tension 6
Pattern: 8st x 20 rows repeat
Yarn: Palermo cotton (50g x 5)
This pullover is knitted sideways. Therefore, the bottom part we cast on and start knitting with, is actually the left side of the panel. The final width of the panel from left to right, as a garment, is determined by the number of rows knitted.
The garment's length, is determined by the number of stitches used. As for me, my baby gk370 Amimumemo, only has 100 needles. For those using the LK150, or other brands of mid-gauge, or standard gauge machines, can add more stitches in 8st repeats. Knit a gauge swatch to check for the final size you want it to be.
Tension! I used T6 as i prefer a short pullover. Any lower than this, I'll end up with a cropped top 😬. A higher number will add more length to your garment. The yarn used plays a part in this too. Anyways, this pattern works up pretty fast! As fast as a one, maybe 2 days project. One day to knit both panels. Another day to seam up, wash, and dry it.
Final details:
Seaming! As shown in the video, hang both panels right sides facing, knit one row across to join them together, and cast off. The method i used to cast off is in the video. I prefer to use this method as it gives me an even tension across the empty needles. An easier and faster way is just to seam the sides using a crochet hook. But well, sometimes, we just want to use the machine for every step, right?
For the shoulder seams, i used mattress stitch. To finish both the armholes, i crocheted a row of single crochet stitches loosely around it.
Blocking!! I didn't really block it. Soaked the pullover in water to get the fluff and dye out, stretched it properly, squeezed out excess water, hung on a hanger, and fan-dried 😅
I only trimmed and secured the yarn used for seaming the pullover up after it has dried. Well, that's in case i need to adjust the openings 😆
That's about it. Let's go knit now!!!
