The Uyghur knife has been a local handicraft in Xinjiang for hundreds of years, passed down from generation to generation. Unfortunately, thanks to security concerns, it is an art form that is slowly dying.
Still, in the small town of Yengisar, considered the "home" of the Uyghur knife, it is possible to find knife makers who are still creating every detail of these beautiful knives by hand.
