🎵 THE ROAD TO THE ISLES - Bagpipe Massed Band Tunes

Описание: THE ROAD TO THE ISLES (aka THE BENS OF JURA or BURNING SANDS OF EGYPT) is a classic 2-part 2-4 march for the Highland bagpipes composed by Pipe Major John McLellan DCM (1875–1949) of Dunoon, Scotland in the late 1800's, and first published in 1917. It is said to have been played by Bill Millin, piper to Simon Fraser, 15th Lord Lovat, during the first day of the Normandy Landings on D-Day during World War II. The "Road to the Isles" refers to the scenic A830 road in the Scottish Highlands from Fort William to Mallaig, a port town that serves as a gateway to the Inner Hebrides islands like Skye.
