Kristen and her German Shorthaired Pointer, Beans, joined us for our Christmas Mantrailing special event — Run Run Rudolph! — at Goulburn North Public School.
This session marked an important milestone for Beans: his first scent article start.
In a scent article start, the dog may greet the trail layer, but is then turned away so they cannot see where the person goes. The trail begins using scent from an article, without any visual direction of travel.
This was Beans’ 24th Mantrailing progression session, introduced within a fun, themed setup to keep things clear, motivating, and successful while layering in a more advanced start type.
Special events like Run Run Rudolph! allow experienced teams to practise advanced skills in a playful, supportive environment — reinforcing strong foundations while keeping Mantrailing engaging and enjoyable.
