The stinging nettles are looking tall and the flowers are forming, but is their fibre ready to be harvested yet?
Today I'm going hedge-bothering and testing a nettle each from a sunny and shady location to see if they are strong enough yet for harvesting to be used in textile projects.
These nettles were picked in Herefordshire at the end of May. Different areas may find their nettles are a little ahead or behind mine.
