Periyanaicken-palayam (PNP) and Narasimhanaicken-palayam (NNP) are a cluster of two Town Panchayats (TPs) that have been chosen by the Government of Tamil Nadu (GoTN) to demonstrate Fecal Sludge Management (FSM) to attain total sanitation and to provide a basis for state wide scaling up. This video is a time-lapse capture of the PNP FSTP construction progress. Situated in a land parcel of 0.75 Acres, the plant area is 0.5 Acres, with the capacity to treat up-to 30 Kilo Litres per day.
The FSTP has been operational since January 2020 and has treated 1 million litres of septage till date.
PNP FSTP demonstrates mechanical systems in which the fecal sludge and septage is treated by stabilisation followed by mechanical dewatering. Further treatment of the liquid and solid streams is by biological methods to produce safe reusable products.
