The 7 QC Tools: How To Use Scatter Diagram - Exclude "Outliers"!【Excel Template】

Описание: Today, I’ll introduce one of the 7 QC Tools, the Scatter Diagram, which is often used in the Analyze Phase. I’ll explain how to use it by using an Excel template. Although the Scatter Diagram is not as popular as a Histogram or Pareto Chart, I like it because it's useful. When I have a pair of datasets, I can quickly make a Scatter Diagram and check if there is any correlation and confirm that the two datasets don't have any relationship. However, the original usage is for seeing their positive correlation or negative correlation. Also by seeing their "Coefficient of Determination", you can check their degree of correlation. Generally speaking, you can say that there is a strong correlation if R2 is more than +0.5 or less than -0.5. However, you should be aware of the presence of “Outliers”. Data caused by unusual incidents may become an "Outlier" and impact the Coefficient of Determination toward no correlation. If that's the case, you should exclude the outlier data. You can do that procedure automatically in this included Scatter Diagram Excel template.
