Описание: ប្រវត្តិសាស្ត្រ​ត្រង់​នេះហើយ ទើប​នាំ​ឲ្យ​ប្រជាពលរដ្ឋ​កម្ពុជា ប្រារព្ធ​ពិធីបុណ្យ​នេះ​ឡើង ដើម្បី​រម្លឹក​ដល់​គំរូ​វីរភាព​ដ៏​អង់អាច​ក្លាហាន​របស់​កងទ័ពជើងទឹក​របស់​ខ្មែរ ដែល​បាន​រំដោះទឹកដី ឲ្យ​រួច​ផុតពី​ការជិះជាន់​របស់​ពួក​ចាម ដែលជា​ខ្មាំងសត្រូវ​របស់​ខ្មែរ​នា​សម័យ​នោះ​។
ពិធីបុណ្យ​អុំទូក មាន​ដើមកំណើត​តាំងពី​រជ្ជកាល​ព្រះបាទ​ជ័យវរ្ម័ន​ទី​៧​មក​ម្លេះ​។ ក្នុងអំឡុង​ឆ្នាំ ១១៧៧ ពួក​ចាម​បាន​លើកទ័ព​មក​ធ្វើការ​លុកលុយ និង​ត្រួតត្រា​ប្រទេស​កម្ពុជា​អស់​រយៈពេល​ប្រមាណ​៤​ឆ្នាំ​។ គ្រានោះ​ព្រះបាទ​ជ័យ​វរ្ម័នទី​៧ បាន​បង្រួបបង្រួម​ជាតិ និង​ចំណាយ​ពេលវេលា​រៀបចំ​យុទ្ធសាស្ត្រ​កងទ័ព ដើម្បី​ប្រយុទ្ធប្រឆាំង​ចំពោះ​ពួក​ចាម រហូត​ទទួលបាន​ជ័យជម្នះ ហើយ​ព្រះអង្គ​បាន​ឡើង​គ្រង​រាជសម្បត្តិ​ដឹកនាំ​ប្រទេសជាតិ នៅ​ឆ្នាំ​១១៨១ និង​បានធ្វើឱ្យ​ប្រទេសជាតិ​មានការ​រីកចម្រើន រុងរឿង​ដល់​កម្រិត​កំពូល​ថែមទៀត​។

The Water festival, or Bon Om Touk in Khmer, is one of the most important events in Cambodia. This year, over seven million Khmers gathered from all over the country to watch the races and take part in the festivities. Water festival" primarily refers to Bon Om Touk, a major three-day Cambodian festival in November that celebrates the end of the rainy season and the reversal of the Tonlé Sap River's flow.
The three-day festival is packed with activities, particularly in the evening:
Boat Races (Om Touk): The most iconic part of the festival. Hundreds of long, colorful boats, each paddled by dozens of crew members from provinces across Cambodia, race on the river during the day.
Illuminated Floats (Bondet Bratib): After sunset, large, ornate, illuminated floats representing various ministries and institutions parade down the river, often accompanied by fireworks.
Moon Salutation (Sampeas Preah Khae) & Eating Ambok (Auk Ambok): On the final night, there's a ceremony to worship the moon, believed to bring good fortune. People gather to eat Ambok (flattened rice mixed with coconut and banana).
Dates: Thursday, November 14 to Saturday, November 16, 2024. (It is a three-day public holiday.)
Main Location: Phnom Penh, along the Tonle Sap River in front of the Royal Palace (Sisowath Quay).
