The new rector of the American seminary in Rome, Msgr. Thomas Powers, took up his appointment at the Pontifical North American College on the 1st of July. This concludes more than a year’s delay filling the position because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Msgr. Powers was the vicar general in Connecticut at the Diocese of Bridgeport and a parish pastor. He is also an alumnus of the college, as well as of the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, and the John Paul II Pontifical Institute for Marriage and Family.
This was not, however, an appointment Msgr. Powers expected.
