Tango Stories approaches this multi-faceted art form by taking an intimate musical journey through Buenos Aires. Guided by an extraordinary cast of Tango aficionados, we experience an insider's perspective to this rich cultural heritage and its transition into new forms. Tango music in Buenos Aires has experienced a renaissance in the past few years attracting younger crowds and gratifying its ardent fans from the past. It is also in the process of witnessing the passing of the last giants of the Golden Era that took place from approximately 1940-1955. But can this rebirth be sustained once the masters are gone or will Tango become something else?
Unique from many previous tango films, the primary focus is on the music and musicians rather than solely on the dance. The film is dedicated to the pursuit of authenticity and the essence of tango music and culture not often seen outside of Argentina.
