Two Burlington Northern units used to be paired up in the Twin Cities for well over a year, BNSF 1687 and 1458. The SD40-2 / SD60M duo could be seen on nearly any mainline train, or local, in the area. Recently, the duo was broken up, and the 1458 was sent to Galesburg.
This video will feature highlights of this duo from October of 2020 to May of 2021. During the winter shots, the green and black power stands out against the snow, and they even smoke a bit. We'll chase a few mainline freights in the form of a NTWGFD (Northtown to Grand Forks), watch them departing Northtown, race along the main, and many other places. If you were a railfan in the Twin Cities during this time, this power was a fixture, and one of the go to things to shoot! Only the 1687 remains in the area, and it gets bumped around to various jobs here and here. It also retains its fouled Prime 920 horn to this day.
