The seventeenth study segment of Chapter Nine, “THE ETERNITY OF PURIM,” completes our analysis of verse 28, which delineates the posterity of Purim and its promise of perpetual observance and celebration.
In this foundational class, we examine how Purim is presented in the Megillah -- not merely as a celebration of miraculous deliverance and survival, but as a bold declaration of permanence.
In the second half of Esther 9:28, the Megillah makes a stunning promise: these days of feasting and joy will never disappear from the Jewish people. Kingdoms rise and fall, decrees are written and erased, cultures evolve and collapse -- but Purim remains untouched by the erosion of history.
This class explores the deeper meaning of “Lo Ya’avru” -- why Purim is framed not simply as a mitzvah to remember, but as an indestructible spiritual rhythm embedded within Jewish time itself.
We will come to appreciate what makes Purim eternal, and what that reveals about the unbreakable destiny of the Jewish people -- even in exile.
Comprising the sixtieth consecutive episode of our ongoing in-depth discovery series on Megillat Esther, this seventeenth class on Chapter Nine has been generously sponsored by Leslie and Iris Friedman in commemoration of the yahrzeit of Iris’s father, Yitzchak ben Dovid, OBM.
