Terrain: Walk includes some small inclines and declines along and amongst sand dunes with a major part being on sandy soil and beaches. The end of the walk is back onto a tarmaced shared path. Strong footwear recommended.

From south to north over the sea, the ancient county of Ayrshire is 55 miles long, but its curved coastline measures 84 miles (134 km). Add in several must-see historic detours, and the Ayrshire Coastal Path runs for 100 miles.

This part of the path sees you walking along the side of Prestwick Golf Course and the end of the runway of Prestwick Airport and into Prestwick Holiday Park. Then heading over the Pow Burn onto the sands and walking parrallel to Royal Troon Golf Course, and passing the end of the Smugglers' Trail. The walk thereafter takes you onto the shared path that runs parralel to South Beach connecting with the Esplande all the way to Troon Town Hall.
