Wetlands are the most productive Eco-systems in the World. They are habitats for both land and aquatic animals. On February 2, 1971 Ramsar Convention for protecting and conserving Wetlands held in Ramsar, a city in Iran.
It is non-governmental and inter-governmental non-binding agreement for the conservation and sustainable use of wetlands. India signed Ramsar Convention in October 1981 by naming two wetlands as Ramsar Sites in India namely, Chilika Lake and Keoladeo National Park. As of 2020, there are total 39 Ramsar Sites are their in India.
