In contrast to the hostile Irish, they had excellent relations with Cosa Nostra - the famous five families always acted together with Jewish authorities.

They took full advantage of the economic opportunities of Prohibition and took their business to unimaginable heights. In particular, the city of Las Vegas owes its emergence to the Mafia, which was looking for legal business opportunities. In the early 1950s, the American government decided to clean up the overgrown sector of the illegal economy.
