A blend of the vocal and instrumental sides of an unreleased remix that never got past an acetate pressing which, by the time it was digitized and uploaded to the internet, was almost worn-out from use. I really wish that acetate had seen full retail release--I would've stood in line to buy that 12" single.
Among the frustrating things about this being only on acetate is that there's no indication of who originally did the mix I re-edited here. I'd guess Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, or if not them, maybe Reggie Thompson (since he did a remix of "Just Be Good To Me," which is from the same album as "Tell Me If You Still Care").
Aside from the crackles and pops, I think this is a fantastic remix and most certainly should've seen full release. As always, I felt the song needed to ... well, groove a bit more fully and deeply. Or just go on longer.
