Dubai is known for its structural marvels and have a huge list of skyscrapers. Adding to that newly constructed stunning Infinity Bridge opened to public recently on January sixteenth. The historic Shindaga Tunnel will be keep closed and the traffic will flow from Deira to Bur Dubai and vice-a-versa through Infinity Bridge, which can take 24,000 vehicles in both directions each hour. With a permissible speed of eighty kilometer per hour, it takes less than two minutes to cross the new bridge.
Consisting of six lanes in each direction, the bridge has an arch shaped like the infinity symbol - which symbolizes Dubai’s unlimited ambitions.
This bridge will help the motorists to save minimum of thirty minutes from the traffic signals.
His highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-president of the United Arab Emirates and Prime minister and ruler of Dubai officially inaugurated the bridge first week of January and opened to the public on January sixteenth.
Part of Shindaga Corridor, Infinity bridge project was announced in 2018. Shindaga corridor is a thirteen kilo meter project, aiming to deliver several developments like Deira islands, Dubai seafront, Dubai Maritime city and port Rashid developments.
Infinity bridge is mainly aimed to reduce the traffic on historic Shindaga tunnel, one of the oldest tunnels in the Emirate, with two lanes in both directions, linking Deira and Burdubai. It has played a key role in Dubai’s Road network.
The structure of infinity bridge involved the lifting of 40 steel segments of its infinity arch, some of which weighed 130 tons, three hundred meter long and twenty-two meter wide and sits fifteen-point five meter above from the water level. Its infinity arch has a height of forty-two meters. It was built by Besix construction.
The bridge can accommodate 24,000 vehicles per hour in both directions and features a combined three-meter-wide track for pedestrians and cyclists.
