I am documenting every part of this vehicle as I put it back together. The idea is to end up with the best documented 560SL rebuilds on the Internet.
In this video I Recondition The Intake Manifolds. That's right I said manifolds. That's because there is an upper intake and a lower intake. The manual (link below) says the procedures I am semi-following are the following:
14-450 Removal, reinstallation of intake manifold, renewing gaskets
14-455 Renewing intake manifold (I'm reconditioning, not buying new)
07.3-230 Removal, reinstallation of throttle assembly
Links to any special tools used in this video is also below.
I want everyone who visits my channel to know about a friend of mine name Tasos. His videos inspire me to be more like him. The man is amazing I feel. There is NO way I would be this far without his help. You can find his YouTube channel at:

You need at least one 5mm Allen hex. I ow a NEIKO 3/8” Drive Metric 6 inches long Allen hex bit set. It's a 10 piece set ranging in sizes from 3mm – 10mm. So far I like it:

I used a thread chaser on every single nut and bolt. The one I purchased is the Lang Tools 15-Piece Metric Thread Restorer Set and it has saved me time and money. I highly recommend this one:

I used Simple Green 19005 Crystal Industrial Cleaner/Degreaser to clean all the parts in this entire project. It is a fantastic water based degreaser and it's safe to use on aluminum. A little goes a long way:

The best ever Parts Cleaning Brush. This one lasts and the bristles stay on:

To clean the inside of the intake manifold I used the 3M 7447 Scotch-Brite Maroon pad. It worked really well in my opinion:

For finer places where you want to make sure you don't scratch the surface, I used the 3M 7448 Scotch-Brite Gray Ultra Fine. This is my favorite of the two:

To see inside those chambers you'll need a telescopic inspection mirror. The one I have in this video is really old, but here is an inexpensive one I found on Amazon:

You will also need a 13mm, 19mm and a 22mm open end wrench to take off different brackets and sensors. And to clean inside the intake ports you are going to need a bunch of nylon brushes that is safe to use with the solvent you are using.
This video is very detailed and is intended for the absolute beginner (ME). This is how I did things. If you see a problem, let me and the world know by leaving a comment.
