"Black and White Rag" is the third ragtime composition to sell over one million copies of sheet music. Relatively simple in its structure, it employs the 3 over 4 syncopation pattern where a repeated pattern of three notes is played over four beats.
This is likely the first rag that Mark learned to play. This recording includes an ode to Winifred Atwell's 1952 recording, and Mark's signature ending: "Shave and a Haircut, 2 bits".
