Steven Erikson and I discuss Chapter 26 of House of Chains (Book 4 of the Malazan Book of the Fallen) to deconstruct the writing, the narrative, and talk about writing techniques of the book finale.
Spoilers for *House of Chains*, *Memories of Ice*, *Deadhouse Gates*, and *Gardens of the Moon*.
As a reader I have always been intrigued by how writers do things, and Erikson and I sat down to take apart and walk through the conclusion of House of Chains.
It is a bit of a long video, but hopefully people will enjoy this insight into Erikson's approach to writing, and how I approach analysing it.
Erikson has very kindly offered to do this again for reader suggested passages and excerpts from the Malazan Book of the Fallen, on the proviso that the scenes and excerpts are shorter than entire chapters, and that we keep to where I am in my re-read (currently finished House of Chains with Midnight Tides next on the list in a month's time).
