Grandparents can play a pivotal role with the younger generations and influence the long-term emotional well-being of their grandchildren. But how are grandparents impacted by the arrival of a new generation? And what support might they need to navigate this period of transition?
During this DADx we were joined by Jane Honikman an expert in perinatal mental health who will describe the history, barriers, and challenges of grandparenting.
Jane Honikman, M.S. co-founded Postpartum Education for Parents (PEP) in 1977. In 1987 she founded Postpartum Support International (PSI). Jane has published 6 books, most recently Postpartum is Forever Social Support from Conception through Grandparenthood. She and Terry have lived in Santa Barbara, California since 1970, have 3 married children and 8 grandchildren.
