GWR London to Penzance. First Class. Trip review including standard class

Описание: Welcome to Speedwell Travel. My name is Eve and today I am travelling on Great Western Railways from London Paddington Station to Penzance. Firstly, the staff in the station and on board were all fantastic, friendly and looked really smart in their uniforms. A credit to the Company. It is the first time I have seen a Train Manager evict passengers from First to Standard Class on checking their tickets. Well done! Now I had been previously warned about the lack of catering on this train with the exception of hot drinks and snacks (biscuits and crisps). I went to one of the shops in Paddington and bought myself a meal deal as I was going to be on this train for five and a half hours and would be hungry. I could have gone to Standard Class and bought something off the trolley but I didn't realise this until later. That said, the trolley was brought round every hour with hot drinks and biscuits so I consoled myself with these. The train was clean as were the toilets - top marks. Lighting was very bright and quite sore on the eyes after a while. The seats were ok for about 2 hours and then became quite painful to sit on. I had to get up and go for little walks. I loved the fact that the Manager announced every station and also where to get train connections. I have never seen that done before. Standard Class looked okay but not sure how comfortable it would be for this length of journey and if the coaches were busy it would be very noisy. I could sit back and relax and take in the English countryside which was beautiful. I think the train ended up delayed but only about 20 minutes. This was due to the areas where it was single track and we had to wait for the line to clear. The train was very stable and comfortable on the tracks making for a smooth ride. I would use this train again and hope to do some more journeys across England in the future.
