Years before an official inquiry was launched in 2023, a senior special forces whistleblower, identified as N1466, raised alarms in 2011 about potential war crimes during operations in Afghanistan, but those warnings were ignored.
He told the inquiry that senior commanders, including the director at the time, chose to suppress the information, stage misleading internal reviews, and create the appearance of action without confronting the wrongdoing.
As redacted evidence came into view, the allegations no longer point to isolated incidents, but to a pattern that raises one unresolved question: who knew, and why was nothing done?
